Characteristics of the material

The most frequently used aluminium sheet in the DEKMETAL system is labelled EN AW 1050 (Al 99.5) according to the EN 573-3 standard.

Surface treatment

The sheets are commonly treated by organic coating, the properties and parameters of which are described in a separate section: Organic coated sheets. Another surface treatment is anodising.

Processing

Aluminium can only be cut by shears or nibblers.

Life and corrosion

Non-coated aluminium is covered by a layer of aluminium oxide, which prevents further corrosion.
